After the first week, the alligator clip unbuttoned itself several times and my ID's fell to the ground. Luckily, I was at my desk and they were easily found. I also had a magnetic strip ID for door accesses that I couldn't wear around my neck because it needs to be reachable to the door control panel. So I removed the unreliable alligator clip and combinded a retractable keychain with the above lanyard:
And I added all of my ID's around the metal keyring. Now all of my ID's are secure on the metal keyring (no much chance they'll fall off now) and my lanyard is now easily extendable for the magnetic stripped ID's for door control.
